March 27

Dear Davisville and Spectrum families,

We had a great week at school with students enjoying some much-needed sunshine and outdoor activity. The grade 1, 2 and 3 students had fun making creations with loose natural parts. Some students even made “worm terrariums.” Thanks to the rain, we saw a lot of worms! They also continued playing games like Red Light Green Light (adding purple, blue and yellow light to make the game more complicated), Shadow Tag and reading books. All students are continuing to enjoy the Zone bins of equipment at recess. Soccer is an absolute favourite. Our continued thanks go out to Ms. Francesca for the additional time and effort she puts forth every day to ensure the bins are there for the students.

We continue to meet virtually with Lynne, Geordie and Charles regarding a portion of the playground at the new school. Thanks to their dedicated efforts and collaboration with City Councillor, Josh Matlow, Trustee Shelley Laskin, and TDSB staff, a proposal is going forward for a potentially funded playground for the new school. Watch for more details coming.

Lynne has also been working with the Councillor’s office, TDSB Transportation and TDSB staff, along with the school to ensure safe pedestrian, cycling and vehicle traffic around the new school area. Traffic patterns will change once the new school opens. It is vital we have a clearly signed and communicated traffic plan to ensure the safety of all. We are working on an electronic and hardcopy package for all families that will include simple maps and guidelines.

Each year, students in Spectrum compete in a Remembrance Day art and literature competition. There are 4 categories for which students are invited to submit an entry; black and white poster, colour poster, poem and essay. Each year, students in Spectrum excel in this competition. This year is no exception. On Monday, we will be visiting the students to share the excellent news and awards. We will share student names and awards in the next edition.

Spectrum students are busy preparing for their musical. Rehearsals are going well and we can’t wait to virtually see the final production. Congratulations on all the hard work and effort you’ve put in so far.

Spectrum Council is coming up on Wednesday, March 31st at 6:30 pm. Zoom invitation

Davisville Council is coming up on Tuesday, April 6th at 6:30 pm. Zoom invitation

If you have any change of pick up plans for the end of the day, please fill out the Bus Change form by 2:00 pm every day. This helps us ensure the safe dismissal of all students. Thank you.

Thank you for helping us stay vigilant in keeping all our staff, students and families safe as we continue the battle against COVID19. Wear a mask, wash your hands and stay socially distanced.  Have a great week.
