Thank You!!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank those parents who volunteered their time to help out with the Scholastic Book Fair. It is with your assistance that made the week a success. I know that I thanked each of you for your time while volunteering but it merits another thank you as well. To those who just popped in to help, to those who connected with others to volunteer, to those who stayed much longer than what they had signed up for, to those who signed up for a period to help, and to those who signed up more than once, this Book Fair could not have happened as smoothly without your help. We also had volunteers from Spectrum Alternative who assisted throughout the week and many staff who also took time out of their busy schedules to assist. Many, many, many thanks to you all. Your time and support was appreciated. Once reorders are in, I will deliver them to those who are waiting for their purchases and will communicate final numbers with administration once the totals are calculated.
In our self-contained ESL class, students are immersed in an environment of inclusion, belonging and respect. Using the structure of a sharing circle, which is a very important structure in Indigenous cultures and worldviews, the class has created a strong sense of community in the classroom. Our ESL self-contained class is an environment where various student identities are explored and celebrated through various activities including students tracing their roots on a world map. During the month of November, students read the story, "The Sharing Circle" and learned about their significance to multiple Indigenous communities. They also used the story to make connections to our early literacy work and as a foundation to continue to support their efforts with building a strong classroom community. In our self-contained ESL classroom, all students' identities are highly valued and the creation of a strong classroom community has been integral to students' social/emotional well-being and overall success. We appreciate all of the wonderful work happening in Ms. Sullada's self-contained classroom!

Morning Drop-Off Routines
Dear families, here are some key points to be aware of during daily morning drop off of students:
- Supervision starts at 8:40 am every morning for students in Grades 1-6. At this time, staff will be on duty. Therefore, we encourage families not to drop students off before 8:40am, as there is no guaranteed supervision available.
- Our playground area will not be supervised by staff before the start of school (i.e., 8:40-8:55am). Therefore, please ensure that you supervise your child(ren) should they wish to use the playscape area during this time.
- If your child(ren) are late to be dropped off in the mornings and their class has already gone inside, please do not send your child into the school building on their own to attend class. Instead, we kindly ask that your child(ren) be taken to the main office for a late slip. Given variations in teachers' schedules, some classes may not be in their homeroom classes in the morning, therefore, dropping your child(ren) off in the office will ensure that they safely go to the class they are scheduled to be in for first period (e.g., music, gym, etc.). We thank you for your cooperation and partnership with this, as we all work together to ensure the safety of students at all times.
