Week Ending Oct 1

 Hello,

We have included some images so that you can enjoy the inside and outside view of the school: Week of Oct 1

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 5,  #WORLD TEACHERS DAY:

Please consider giving a shout out to your child’s teacher on Tuesday. This year, more than ever, teachers are going above and beyond to give all students an amazing year. Thanks

TERRY FOX RUN: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 14:

Please see  Terry Fox Flyer for our annual Terry Fox run. Thanks to Ms. Harnick and Ms. Francesca for organizing.

STUDENT DROPOFF AND PICKUP:

You will notice some new lines and class numbers painted in the yard this week. Students are to go directly to their cohort area when they arrive. They line up in the same location for pick up at the end of the day. Supervision begins in the yard at 8:40 am. Parents are free to start their day at that time. All staff come outside at 8:55 to pick up their students.

3:30 Dismissal: if your child and teacher are no longer outdoors once after-school class dismissal has happened, please proceed to the school front door (Davisville Ave.). Your child will be available for pick-up at the front door upon sign-out.

TDSB REORGANIZATION:

All schools will be receiving the new staffing numbers on Monday. The new numbers are based on actual enrolment while the first reorganization was based on projections. All student moves (if any) will take place effective Tuesday, October 12th. Affected families will receive an email or a phone call on Friday October 8th. We recognize any changes made at this time will be impactful on students, staff and families. We will do our best to mitigate the changes.

NATIONAL DAY OF TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION-ORANGE SHIRT DAY: THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30;
Students and staff in both Davisville and Spectrum spent the week learning about and honouring First Nations, Métis, and Inuit children and communities impacted by Canada's residential school system.  However, the work still continues.

WOMEN'S COLLEGE HOSPITAL:WCH:Isolation-Symptomatic Saliva Test

SCHOOL COUNCIL:

School Councils are a great way for parents/guardians to become engaged in the school. The purpose of the Council is to improve student achievement and enhance the accountability of the education system to parents through active parent engagement. New this year, all parents will have a chance to vote during the Oct. 19 Parent Council meeting to elect  “parent representatives” (up to 19).  Please consider becoming a parent representative if you are at all interested in joining Council this year.

Parent Representative's help ensure all voices and points of view are heard and represented, and that you work together with the rest of council to help strengthen our children's educational experience.  Some members decide to take on roles, like chair or treasurer, that have additional responsibilities, or volunteer their time to run events or committees, but that's up to you.  Those 19 parent representatives will vote to elect the executive positions (i.e. Chair, Treasurer)  from within the group. Please join us and if you have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to council@davisvilleparents.com.

 Forms are due Friday Oct. 8.21  - https://forms.gle/8oHh5uGoE7Axi3qT8

 The form can also be found at  https://davisvilleparents.com/home/parentcouncil
