New Crossing Guard:

The crossing guard at Millwood and Millwood Walkway location will be starting service on Monday November 1, 2021. TDSB Alternative Schools Community Advisory Committee's (ASCAC) Equity Sub-Committee and Community Building Sub-Committee:

The TDSB Alternative Schools Community Advisory Committee's (ASCAC) Equity Sub-Committee and Community Building Sub-Committee are having meetings this November. All TDSB elementary/secondary alternative students, parents/guardians, and staff are welcome to participate in these ASCAC working group meetings. Please register through the link below to join the Zoom meeting(s) so ASCAC may know how many people to expect.

1. ASCAC EQUITY SUB-COMMITTEE MEETING - MONDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2021, 6:30 - 8:00 PM

This working group will discuss, explore, and develop proposals to help improve equity across all 40 different TDSB elementary/secondary alternative schools. Two examples of this sub-committee's past work: The Secondary Alternative Schools Review and the Elementary Alternative Schools Application Form & Admissions Process Review.

2. ASCAC COMMUNITY BUILDING SUB-COMMITTEE MEETING - MONDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2021, 6:30 - 8:00 PM

This working group will develop ideas and proposals for ASCAC events and other initiatives to help improve and increase community building and knowledge-sharing between the 40 different TDSB elementary/secondary alternative schools. For example, co-curricular programs, webinars, field days, etc.

Part 2: 7:00 - 8:30 - Presentation - Combating Online Hate

The internet and social media are confusing and ever-changing spaces for parents, guardians, and caregivers to understand! This presentation will explore how young people use social media, the challenges they face, and how hateful content manifests online. We will explore resources which will help you support young people in becoming responsible digital citizens and managing difficult situations online. Bring your questions and concerns and connect with others to work towards supportive and empathetic strategies to guide your children through the online world.

The video conference will be Zoom. In order to participate you must register by noon on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 12 noon.
