A Different Booklist Cultural Centre Virtual Event - Oct 26:
The Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement in partnership with A Different Booklist Cultural Centre invites self-identifying Black-African, Afro-Caribbean, and Black community members to a virtual event on October 26, 2021 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Conversations will focus on how to promote meaningful and collaborative school-community engagement and how to implement the mandates of the Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement. Registration is now open.

Grade 8 to Grade 9 Transitions Information Sessions:
To support our Grade 8 students and families, the TDSB will be hosting two (2) Grade 8 to Grade 9 Transitions Information Sessions for Families that focus on the Top 10 Tips and Considerations in the Transition to High School. This presentation is designed to augment the work already taking place through virtual secondary open houses and at the Grade 8 schools.
The Grade 8 Information Session for Grade 8 Families will take place on Monday, November 1, 2021. The session for LC1 and LC4 students and schools will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. via Zoom. Click here to join the LC1/LC4 Information Session Webinar. In the event that the webinars reach capacity, families can watch the live YouTube stream. Families can request interpretation services for this event in advance, by completing this online form.
Presenters will highlight the key practical aspects regarding the process of transitioning to high school, including an introduction to course selection, optional attendance, regular programs, specialized programs, alternative schools, key dates, and more.

Davisville Curriculum Night/Week: Tuesday, October 26, 2021:
The following is the Zoom link for you to join the Davisville Curriculum Night Introduction from 6:00-6:20 p.m. during which time Ms. Farrelly and Ms. Bozzo, along with our School Settlement Worker and School Council Executive will be sharing information.
Teachers will also be connecting with their parents/guardians in a variety of ways throughout the week by sharing their curricular plans for the year. Some ways of this happening: virtual meetings, pre-recorded messages, direct phone calls along with a copy of their Long Range Plans for the year. These handouts may be sent home in hard copy, sent electronically or posted in your child’s Google classroom or Brightspace. Please feel free to call the school to also connect with your child’s teacher.

Halloween/Costume/PJ Day: Friday, October 29, 2021:
It's almost Halloween. While we look forward to celebrating, we encourage students to be mindful of their choice of costume. Caricatures of peoples' cultures are offensive and hurtful. Students may choose to dress up in a costume, in their pyjamas, or for
Halloween if they wish. While we aim to have some fun and enjoy the day,
please remember to adhere to the following guidelines:
- Students must continue to wear masks underneath their costumes.
- Students can only bring their
own food/healthy treats.
The students will be having an outdoor walking parade (weather permitted) around the school yard. You are welcome to join by spectating on the exterior of the fence along Millwood.

Early French Immersion:
Students who will be
entering Junior Kindergarten and Senior Kindergarten in 2022 will be eligible
to apply to the Early French Immersion program during the November 2021
application period. Moving forward (2023), the only entry point for Early
French Immersion will be Junior Kindergarten. The application to the
Early French Immersion program will remain an online process managed by the
Central French Department and will take place during the month of November. All
information and the online application are available at www.tdsb.on.ca/french website or click on Early French Immersion. Early French
Immersion: Applications must be completed online between November 1 and
November.
